Hi, I’ve had a bit of trouble using vintage medalist reel feet on certain rods. I’m aware of the onePfoot etc, but was wondering if the more modern medalist reel feet (AK, CJ, and RC) will fit on vintage reels. I have a couple RCs and I’m considering going vintage on another medalist. Wondering if I can poach the RC’s reel foot. Thanks!

AK reels have a different foot that works much better on finicky reel seats .

They should swap with an older reel…
Swap the screws also .. there is some differences in screw tread pitch over the decades ..
Good luck

They absolutely do swap.
The late Bill Franke and I went way back - Young Pfoot was my idea - he used to send me his new parts prototypes to field test installation and use.
When he shut down during periods of health crisis, I could still buy the -AK foot from Pure Fishing, along with the graphite-filled drag ratchet plate - I installed those in old Medalists for several folks.

Just don't expect them to be as strong as One Pfoot barstock, because they're die-cast.

Even Martins are on the same centers - but the plate width is different, so they need wider spacers and longer screws.
