I needed a new reel for a DT6. First Heddon, hopefully it proves to be a serviceable reel.

That reel should be very serviceable. The paint is in really nice shape. Not perfect, they never are. But still really nice. The old grease should clean out without a lot of trouble. That doesn't look like it was a high mileage reel.

Spare spools might not fit your reel body. If you need a second six weight line on hand, buy a complete reel instead of a spool.

If you search "Hardy Clone" on this forum, you'll find the archive on these reels.
I always swap the pawls for Hardy pawls, and it really makes them nicer.

I'm in the same camp. I have a spare spool for one reel, I carry spare reels.

In the case of the Heddon-Daisy (Olympic-Seiko) Hardy clones, they made so many changes from year to year, the spare spools don't always fit the reel you expect them to fit.

I had a Heddon 300 spare spool that wouldn't fit a Heddon 300 reel but would fit a Berkley 530.

You have a nice-condition reel there - get that old grease out - Boeshield should do the trick.

that's a good-looking one..

mine is solidly serviceable, nice clicker sound. The tolerances are sloppy but not noticeable when fishing. It holds a 7 WF floater with plenty of backing.
as bulldog says there were many changes to what was called a Heddon 320..

They are inexpensive and serviceable, especially when you find them in great shape like the OPs. I have a bunch.

I started a list once to see how many makes/models there were...below is where I landed and I'm sure I'm missing several and may have an incorrect model # or two.

Very good list.
The Alford was the last, and the slickest I owned, though you could easily argue the Daiwa Lochmor was really the last of these.
I never paid more than $35 for any of these reels, and by the time I needed the space (and project funds), they were easy to sell at $65.
Every one of mine had Hardy pawls and fished extremely well.

and not to disparage your excellent list effort, 3067 was Princess size (3-1/2" dia)

I’ve few of these also. Another brand name of essentially the same reel is Wickham. The one I have has a matt black/grey finish.

thanks Sandman, a good listing of the variants..

I have an Eagle Claw which looks exactly like bulldog's Alford, same release clip, but mine doesn't say 'Taste of Scotland' (makes me want a drink of whisky)..

I am a fan of the next gen "clones" cabela's cahill .5,daiwa 730 etc.I think those little BPS click pawls had the same design without an adjustable drag. I know there are other click pawls beside hardy but hardy seems the most copied.

The chart that Sandman posted is very useful. The smallest clones on it are based on the Hardy Featherweight series. Which brings me to my question: were any clones made of the even smaller Flyweight series?

Thanks all, for the corrected/added info on the clone data I posted. I'll update my records accordingly.

I think there was a Star Wars episode about that.

Sandman, that’s an incredible clan of clones!

I recently came across a Berkley 540 (LRH clone) that is a metallic midnight blue color (see pics below); but I had always thought the Berkley clones were grey and it was the Daiwa clones that were blue?

I have been unable to find a photo of a blue Berkley on this board so I am wondering if anyone has any thoughts re this reel?

It's a sharp reel.
The specs changed on these reels so often, they frequently won't swap spools.
So the main thought is the paint changed along the way,
Checked my past photos, but I never photographed the Berkley reel I had because it was badly rashed. But I agree it was less blue and more grey.

I have referenced this list more times than I would like to admit!
