I'll attempt once again to upload these photos. Both reel and rod are un-fished to my knowledge. Sorry about the lighting, photos are by a non-professional and camera is cheap.

Thanks, years ago i passed on one of those rods as the tip was short.I thimk i even posted here about it not quite understanding how it worked.I love gadgets and gimmicks.Seeing a reel on the rod i can see it is as simple and usable as i assumed .It is quite unnecessary and that is the beauty of it.I am surprised Phillipson went in that direction myself.

Thanks for posting the photos - very pretty rod, and looks like it dates early-mid 60s

Any thoughts on how to adjust tension on the trigger loop?

Sweet. Never had a rod equipped with an auto reel trigger mechanism. Could be that's the one more I "need." A side point, some automatic reels have a small hole at the end of the lever. It is there as a connecting point for the rod's trigger mechanism.

@bulldog There does seem to be a system whereby you can tighten the loop to the reel and keep it from falling off
while fishing. I'll try a couple of close-ups so you can see what I mean.

@whrlpool No hole that I can see, but it does have a little knob that may help keep the loop from sliding off. It's all pretty cool the way it's designed and supposed to work, but also just a few more things to go wrong while standing in the stream, lol.

thanks - shows what I was trying to see before - you can tension the wire and trim to final length if you dedicate a reel to it.
The detail photos also better show how nice your rod is...

Thanks. Nice series of pics. No, I wasn't referring to that reel, but others that were so equipped in case matched with a rod with a trigger mechanism.

I wonder if any other companies made a fly rod like that.

Yes, I think there were partly because of the reels equipped with a small attachment hole on the lever. I'll start a thread in collecting to see what else is out there. If I ever did know specific models of such rods, I sure don't remember. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=72924
