hi all, does Hardy make a Marquis 8? (I have seen 7 and 8/9).

(I think the system & marquis are compatible but the numbers are different? Yes?)

Thanks

A Marquis 8/9 passed through my hands 15 or so years ago.
Seems that System 8 would be Marquis 8/9, and from there, start counting Marquis Salmon 1 and 2

system 8 = marquis 8/9, system 9 = marquis 10, system 10 = Marquis salmon 1, system 11 does not have a match.

Found this ad in an old FF magazine, the SA System reels morphed into Marquis around 1981.

I have a Marquis Salmon #2, made by Hardy Bros...a 10 wt in size, though I have a floating 8 wt bass line on it right now.

Click drag is kind of loud, pulling line off the spool, as I have never had cause to use the drag on a fish so far.

That's pretty cool. I new the SA system was the first version but never new when the transition occurred to the marquis.
I have owned all of the system models and quite a few of the marquis badge ones. I very much enjoy the reels from 4wts to salmon spey sizes.

I always thought that Hardy made the System reel for SA and the Marquis was first cab off the rank - always something new to learn I guess.

Do you have any of the system reels with the round spring? I always wondered if the round spring provide decent resistance (not that I need lots of drag on small trout).

I have had them with the round spring and didn't see allot of difference between the function of the two designs. Kept the reels with the newer design though.
