I bought this reel at a flea market.
It's almost mint with case and a orvis wf4f fly line.
$40.00

Nice little reel.
I've got a sage 4711light line that should be
just right for it.
I'm not sure when it was made.

An English Battenkill Disc 3/4 paired with a Sage LL you say?

Yes. That will work.

Good reel. It's British-made, from the mid '90s. The manufacturer was BFR, then owned by Orvis. There are both disc drag and spring-and-pawl models around, and they are workhorses.

My 5/6 disc has been going for 20 years. I've lined it with 4,5 and 6 lines. It's done everything from step across creeks to medium trout water. Versatile and classic.

I have have 8 of them, in just about all weights but the biggest. They all are workhorses, and just do what they are supposed to do. They look nice, too.

I have two of the 3/4 size multiplier version of this reel. Like them a lot. Since the drag is disc you can also move the pawl out of the way if need a little silence.

Only problem I ever had was with one that would go into the silent mode on its own. That's how I found out you could just disengage the pawl if desired. Maybe the higher speed of the spool on a multiplier was what was knocking the pawl into stow position. Need a stronger spring possibly?
