I am a bit confused as I thought that the IV and V were also available in Click and Pawl but have only found them with Disc Drags.
Were they ever sold as C&P and if not is there an equivalent BFG, Hardy, Young or similar?

The Young-made Battenkills came in a range of sizes, beginning at Flyweight (2-1/2" narrow) and ending at Welterweight (3-1/2" MW).
The Lightweight-W is a 3-1/4" MW, the only reel in this size Young made, and probably the best DT5 reel ever made.

Then there were the Hardy-made magnesium Battenkill Mk - they definitely made a MkIV

If you’re looking at new orvis reels, the click pawl only goes up to the Battenkill III. I use mine on anew Fenwick fenglass, the 71/2’ five wgt.

The (Orvis-owned) BFR-made Battenkill line included a full range before they ever made a disc drag Battenkill.

I am using an old Wye on one rod and Martin Cississ on another and I love them. they do all that is required. but they don't take my breath away when looking at them.

Is there a consensus that the Barrenkill III work best with 5,6 wt rods? I guess that is an open-ended question......When you see these being used are they most often in this range?

The Battenkill III is a 5 wgt reel, I would not go longer than 71/2’ in a glass rod or it won’t balance the rod.
