I obtained this sweet Orvis Lightweight reel last week and the foot is a tad loose. It's not a huge deal but it drives me crazy. My question is, as I'm not familiar with these reels, what kind of tool do I need to tighten these, assuming they are loose and it's not something else? I don't want to damage the heads by trying to use a screwdriver as they appear to be brass and would be soft.

Arggghhh! I can't figure out how to include the pics in my post. Hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about with the square headed screws. I'll go back and read the picture tutorial again in the meantime.

I'm pretty sure those are rivets rather than screws

I would buy the thinnest wetting superglue - Zap CA+ pink label - and wick it in the gap.

Thanks Ron I'll do that. Since the heads were square I assumed they were screws.

I posted with this exact same problem about 6 months ago.

I followed Rob’s advice, biut the glue her recommended, and it worked great.

Note! Remove line from reel prior to applying glue. You can learn from my mistake

Over two years later and I finally addressed this problem. I've yet to use the reel but I'm finishing a bamboo rod that this reel will be perfect on. I got a tube of this in its thinnest mixture and a drop in all 4 corners solved the problem. Thanks again guys!

Since it hasn't already been mentioned on this thread, the 3-1/4" MW (only Young in this size) Lightweight W is the best DT5 reel ever made.

Fine indeed, but hard to find.

A good alternate is the JLH #6.

Not sure if this thread is the right place for this (mods: please feel free to relocate/deep-6 it) or if anyone will find this helpful, but here is a pic of a matrix I created a while back to help me trim my DT5 reel lineup.
Definitely not saying the qualities that are important to me should be important to everyone else; these are just what were important to me. FWIW I still own more than one of the four:)
