where do I have to put the cork disc (the brown one)?

it should go closest to the spool beneath the faceplate knob assembly.

yes, the winding plate is always keyed to the drag plate, so I think the cork should provide friction between the spool and winding plate.

appreciate breaking this out from the reel paper thread
