Can anyone identify model and year of this reel?

Absolutely.
JW Young pattern 1,. 1925.

not even the forger's metal punch set was made in Alnwick, but it was once a pretty nice lead-finished Redditch reel.
They left out the "L", which goes right before the "Y"
If you ever see the white erinoid handle on an actual Hardy, they only used it in 1924 and '25.

For those ugly rivets, be warned, somebody has been schtupping with the insides on that reel.
This is a later pattern 1c with agate guard, but you can see the workmanship from Redditch

Here's a pattern 1, 3-1/2" (MW) size, though c. 1940.

There's a brass spring thrust washer at the spindle base - these are usually missing or mashed into the spindle

Thanks BD...I recognized the Erinoid grip, so new it was prewar, but wasn't sure how much and which model...the rivets do look messed with...guy is asking $250 for a whole pile of reels, this one included...this is the only one that caught my eye...
