1492 CJ
1492 1/2 CJ
1492 DA
1492 1/2 AK

I'd quit at top-dead-center - beauty reel, good alloy foot.
If I didn't already have it, would try to match a 1494 to it.

She's a pretty 1392...Interested in the backside...my guess is a double pawl...I know, it's not reach, with a 33% chance of getting it correct...

I have tried to accumulate all of the US made models. I am missing the earliest 1492 but I do have a single spring 1392( far right) The dates are approximate and very close but with not having all of the boxes I am not 100% sure.1970s, 1960s, 1950s, 1940s, 1930s and 1920-30s

I found this 1392 one as pictured. It’s my favorite of the group. Unfortunately the foot is chipped but usable and back screws are not original. For some reason they were replaced before I found it. Someone mentioned a while back I might be able to get replacement screws but on the shelf it went until now.

Does pfoot have them? I should reach out to him. I think the threads might be ok?ImageImageImage

Thanks myfly, I was wrong...it’s a touch earlier than I thought, since it’s a single pawl, spare spring...has allot of the “leaded” paint left...

There’s also the Orvis Madison 4/5, and the Shakespeare 7593. Good luck finding the Shakespeare.

Thanks for trying to help! I was able to find the Orvis Madison versions. One with the black spool latch and one with the grey spool latch.

The Shakespeare 7593 came up for sale just after my original post here. Jeffsod sent me a headsup and I was able to get that one in my hands! It’s not an easy one to find.

Going back to my original list above can anybody add to it? Always looking for others in that size.

Russ

I'm not sure what is your original question, but OnePfoot foot should fit right there, and Bill used to offer Classic OnePfoot, which has the same look.
Try contacting Dan?

it will get really tricky keeping up with all the changes from 1929 to 1937 (many variations are probably random from the parts bin)

The one I’m having trouble finding is the 1492 CJ. It’s tough to even find a picture of one in a google image search for some reason.

Both Dan Hill at onePfoot https://onepfoot.com/
and Bob Selb at http://www.classicflyfisherman.com/M_PARTS.html
have frame screws for Medalist reels.
Seller mrgenesse on eBay also lists screws and other parts frequently.

You will get one eventually. I saw only one in closed eBay auctions! I try to buy mint ones or upgrade ones when I have the chance. It’s been over a year since I added to my list above. Great little reels just wish all of them were left hand retrieve.

myfly, you said you wished your 1492 reels were left-handed.

I have solved that with some help from a machinist friend of mine. I have two 1492 1/2 reels (CJ on left and AK on right) that have never had a line on them. Like you, I like left hand wind. I asked my machinist friend to drill some holes in the frame that would allow me to move the line guard to the other side allowing left-hand retrieve (even though the drag is backwards...but that doesn't bother me as I always fished my 1494 DA backwards after moving the line guard to the other side so I could wind with the left hand). He drilled the holes on each reel for me. I had a spare line guard and installed it on the CJ reel on the left. One could go on the AK reel also.

I am not using these right now and if you would like the AK, which is new in box with the addition of the holes, I'll send it to you for $40 plus $10 shipping. Actually with the 1292 1/2 there is really not much difference in feel going forwards or backwards. You can try it with yours to see if it would work for you.

paveglass thanks for the offer but I will decline. I’m only looking to add ones in original condition.
