Help Bulldog or anyone !!!
I have a nice Martin Model 64 but, it seems to have a spacer or drag washer or something missing. I need a schematic to see what I need .

I see a metal washer, don't know if there's a fiber washer pressed into the spool - don't own the reel any more.
Search for photobucket hotlink fix, and see if you can find an exploded drawing on Reel Papers thread

Hey, thanks Bulldog. My reel has a slightly different washer set up. Looks like in some point and time someone lost the original washer and did a replacement. The problem I have is when I lock the spool in ,as you crank it the drag tightens up. In other words the spool locking screw and the drag are not working independently. I'll keep fooling with it. Thanks again.....bob v

I also got rid of mine, which, if I recall, had a second washer and a fiber washer for drag. Mine either went to zero drag or full-on clamped down, depending which way you turned the spool, and it sure looked like that's the way it was designed. Maybe that's why there were few made?

If your washer doesn't have those flats on the ID, that's likely the problem. They fit over the flats on the spindle and keep the adjusting knob from turning with the spool.

that's exactly correct - those flats are keys to keep the washer from spinning

you might be able to find a similar keyed nylon washer at a hardware store
