Hi Ron,

I am just getting ready to order one of these. Do you know the total length of the postwar versions of the Pfoot?

Thanks,
Vlad

Ron ... I didn't realize you were so instrumental in the suggestion and development of these great items. Good on you! I have four or five of them and they make life so easy when retro fitting the J. W. Young reels to various vintage and new build fiberglass fly rods.

Black Pfeet for the Young and Progeny

I just got an anodized black Pfoot for an old black Milwards Flycraft. Looks good! Pfits pfine!
Black is a new color, in addition to the brass and the bright silver. It is glossy ebony black.

Bill Franke is a pleasure to do business with, for you who have not yet done so.

Bill Franke is a prince of a man. I've dealt with Bill re Pflueger Medalists. On his home page, I'm the one with the Kalashnikov comment. Istvan

Unfortunately it looks like Bill has some family health problems which necessitate him shutting down again.

I hope all turns out well!

oh, I'm so sorry to hear that.

Sent him a message regarding the purchase of a few Young Pfeet about 10 days ago,
and never received a reply. Thought that wasn't like him, as he's corresponded with me promptly in the past.
Makes sense now, although I wish it were for different reasons ...

In Bill's absence, if you are needing a thin foot for a Medalist, I suggest you order the new one.
look up www.shakespeare-fishing.com, call customer service and tell them you need this part:
"Rod clip" p/n 75-56-0003-02
The them it is for a Medalist 1494 AK or they will will not sell it to you.
Might as well buy a couple, because the shipping will be more than the part.

Has anyone heard any updates from Bill? It has been almost a year since this most recent shut down and I'm getting that sinking feeling.

Unfortunately I don't know Bill well enough to know more and I don't want to bother him with inquiries. If anyone has any updates it would be appreciated and pass along my well wishes too!

Dear Fellow Angler,

I'm happy to report that after a cordial negotiation, I've sold One-Pfoot to Dan Hill of Erie, Pennsylvania. It's never easy to part with a business that's been as much a part of my life as this business has been, but I have every confidence Dan will maintain the devotion to product quality and customer service that I have over the years. I'm sure that Dan will soon introduce himself to you on the website and provide some personal background that will help him serve you well in the coming years.

This transition will happen in the next several days, and in the meantime please feel free to contact Dan (http://www.onepfoot.com/Contact.php). He will be happy to meet you.

And, very importantly, I'd like to thank my customers - and many have become friends over the years - for their support and enthusiasm. They have made this business and my workday a pleasure.
All the best,
Bil

After several unsuccessful attempts to contact Dan Hill, I searched other sources for a thin foot for a Medalist. If you need one try this company: Glenn's Reel & Rod Repair, 515-262-2990 (Des Moines, IA). Ask for Item# S75-56-0003-02, Rod Clip ($4.50) and Item# S74-58-0015-01, Screw-Metric Medalist, four at $1.00 each. Service was prompt and shipping was via USPS. My total was $13.45 for the reel seat and the metric screws.

Glad to hear! I was gonna be a little worried if he'd stopped. As I'm in need of a couple drag plates.

I received my 1pfoot for a 1492 the other day and was kinda unhappy to find that it is very, very, very small compared to all my newer modern reel seats. So much so that its loose on every single one of my rods. Kinda bummed at that. I guess I'll bring the original one to work and mill it out for a better fit.

I wish I had read your post before. I received my 1 pfoot today for my 1492. I too find it way too small (thin) to be useful, as is. I'll try the moleskin trick but needless to say I'm very disappointed. What was the part designer thinking of?

@ post #24-Klingon: "...it way too small (thin) to be useful"
As I understand, pfoot feet replacements meet AFFTA standard for reel feet. So in your case, what or why doesn't it work for you? (I'm planning to purchase a pfoot so I can mount a 1494 on a new reel seat). Thanks
