In two weeks I did not acquire two beautiful and rare reels at very reasonable prices. I introduced the first reel in the "Inexpensive Reel Surprises" topic.

I present the second, it arrived this morning.

Here are the pictures. I first photographed in original condition. Then you can see the entire stage of the dismantling and then the final result. A Ferrari for the same price as a fiat 500 ($90 including shipping cost) :D :D :D :D

It's true ... with a little patience you can still make good deal on ebay!

Let's go!

Amazing pics, thanks for posting! I've had my eyes on CFO Multipliers aswell. They don't surface very often. Congrats to an excellent find!

I picked up a cfo v in very god shape off eBay for a bin of $30 if I remember correctly. Picture only had the back of the reel and when it arrived I was supprised to find it a multiplier. Always did wonder what the inside of the handle looked like. Thanks for the photos.

Romano, excellent work! I have an Orvis CFO IV Multiplier that I am refurbishing, and I am curious how you cleaned up and polished the winder for your reel?

I've had my eyes open looking for a good deal on a CFO multiplier for years for my collection, so congratulations on your acquisition. Your breakdown as I've witnessed before is also first class. Thanks Romano.

A few weeks ago I was lucky, I found a CFO IV multiplier in very good condition, but not on ebay. The amount set by the seller was very interesting, so I bought it. Here are some pictures. It has not been cleaned.

Wow! Excellent reels ... we see few of them over here in the US as far as I know.
I have seen only Battenkill versions ...

Nice take-down and rebuild sequence shots. Your skills (and patience) is evident!

I need to read back to some of your recent posts to see what other reels you have dismantled.

keep them coming -- nice work~!

I'd also be very interested in how you did the removal and polishing of the handle without and abrasive markings.

This is the original handle. I simply removed the peeling paint.

I wonder what you used to clean the finish on the back? Especially around the Orvis logo?
Nice work!

Great restoration and reel breakdown! Indeed $90 shipped is a very good price for this model, and even if it was slightly rough looking it cleaned up well. Nice work.
