Looks like they put a Hardy and a Ross San Miguel together. That is a nice combo.

that is a beautiful reel. Glad to see beauties like this still being made.
Aside from the Sal-Trout daisy cut-outs, it has a Hardy look to all the hardware ...

I agree with bulldog. It is a beautiful reel. I would love to know the story behind it. Does anyone on the forum frequent the Leland shop?

I just emailed Leland asking about the material, weight, and if they had any photos of the guts of the reel. Probably will see a response by Monday. I've had good luck communicating with them in the past.

The version I posted is 200, not that 200 isn't pricey. Closer to my range though.

Hello

They appear to be well made!

Anyone have any first hand knowledge they can share.

Leland's "Sonoma" reel looks like an Abel at an attractive price -- $119.

I have the Red Truck version of the Sonoma. It appears to be just like the Able Trout, except for the logo and the insert on the back of the reel. Great reel for $119.

Canoeman,

Is there any mention, on the packagine, of the reel being made in the USA? Definitely a nice-looking piece of tackle.

I believe all the Leland/Red Truck reels are of Korean manufacture. I say this based on conversations with George Revel and handling some prototypes(5 wt). The reels are very impressive in hand, very nicely machined. I have not used any only inspected in hand. Respectfully rvreclus

Thank you for the email. Sorry for the delay, we were working hard on
getting the reel specs on our website. Should not take this long ... but it
did.

Here are links back to our Diesel fly reels. At the bottom of each page are
the specs you're looking for. Also, these reels are made in Korea. If you
have further questions, please let me know.

I wish vendors would should the innards of their reels. If I had ten bucks for every time I asked I'd bet myself a new reel.

Hi friend. Looks to me like Leland is in league with Hardy and Abel.

I received an email from Leland today with the exact specs for the Leland series of reels.

Same capacities as the Red Truck's, although a few tenths of an ounce heavier for each (the Lelands are heavier).

PM me if you want the exact weights.

Ha! It sure does. It's a good price for a TR2 if that was the case. I didn't check but are those also made in korea? or the US?

Actually, I'm still waiting for the Redington Drift click/pawls to find there way to SierraTrading.

These look like fine reels. If I had the notion to spend $100-$200 on a reel, I probably would not buy one of these. I would get a nice old Young or Hardy Marquis and keep the change. On the other hand, if someone wanted to buy one for me, as a gift, I guess that would be allright:P
