Could you elaborate? It’s a relatively simple click-pawl reel. Maybe you're referring to the design of the release cap and release cap spring? Not necessarily complicated but may be occasionally frustrating.

It is a simple click pawl design, typical symmetrical check with flat V-springs and riveted one-piece foot on the backplate. Massive secure riveted sping and pawl stanchions. Unusual spool-guard frame with 120 degrees exposed rim that can be feathered with the fingertips, thumb or palm. Robust spindle and secure screw mount. Simple clip-retained spool, not that spring-driven lever or plunger retainers are much more complicated, but they are, and more finicky besides. Simple components and assembly, unusual elegant look. Not sure if these were slightly more or less complicated in manufacture, but the component parts are a straightforward assembly.

The reel was sold as a kit of parts to avoid the new VAT on finished tackle pieces, and pretty elegant the way all the pieces fit - except maybe that latch spring...

Yes, I am referring to the center latch clip - which I dislike now.

I only wish I knew the theme song... I know BY MENNEN.

It is this photo - it is the one worth 14 dollars to me. Thanks again bulldog.

Brian, I got good at bending my own from music wire, which let me adjust them to be a little more reliable.
