I finished out a couple of the blanks Dusty sent to me. Interesting and worth trying out for sure. I built a 9ft 4wt & a 9ft 6wt both 3 piece.

Beautiful work! That 6-weight looks like it was sorted for House Gryffindor.

Thanks guys. I have to admit I don't know what House Gryffindor is... hopefully that's a good thing.

I just purchased a 904 YS blank from Dusty. We spoke for a while and he was extremely helpful in describing this particular blank, and its capabilities, to me. I highly recommend contacting him if you have any questions. I'm looking forward to building this one out!

Dusty’s taper crafted into a rod by Shane, yea, that’s pretty damn sweet.

6wt pictured. ( no big bass today )

4wt gets out on the water Friday. ( both just had to happen)

I found my way to the 9' ********* YS 3wt and the 6wt and can not say enough about them.

Amazing rods...

These rods are long, light, strangely slender, smoothly progressive, crisp enough to mend and set hooks well, strong enough to pull line up out of the water for re-firing after you have stripped in what you want, but have a feel that is completely glass, without a hint of being too stiff. I don't prefer the modern fast action rods and was initially fearful these YS rods might have a touch of that too-fast feel, but they don't at all; glassy straight from the wiggle. I am a functional caster who does not go around emptying spools into headwinds, but these rods both cast very well in my hands. They are more powerful than they let on at first, and will laser your line when asked. The rods rollcast and roll-retrieve line really well thanks in part to that 9' length I guess.

I have used a 3wt 406 DT or a 4wf SA Amplitude Smooth Infinity on the three weight and a 6wt DT or 7wt Rio Smallmouth Bass line on the six. Today, I fished articulated weighted streamers tied with size 4 hooks, and the 6wt rod just performed beautifully. Lovin' it!

The action on the 3 weight feels very much like the action on the 6wt. I take this as a sign that the tapers were built by someone who knows what they were doing. I think ********* has something really good on their hands with these rods and can recommend them heartily.

I should note that I don't know Dusty, except through working with him on the rods and that I paid full price. I will also add that working with Dusty (3wt) and Matt Leiderman (6wt) was about as good as it gets...top notch, skilled folks.

Aqua, Good report. Interested in seeing photographs of your rods as they were built by two fellows with talent.

Is all good at ********* Rod Co? The site has been down for about a week now. I hate to see us lose a great source of rods and blanks for our sport.

Sorry, but I'm going to lock this thread. Whenever the subject becomes, "Where is that rod builder?", the thread is destined to turn into a mess. So we lock them early.

It could be the website provider is changing. It could be the website is gone and not coming back. I have not seen any announcements or received any news.

For anyone waiting on a Livingst0n rod/blank, please read the Forum Buyer's Guide. Please read the sections at the bottom of the page. A disappearing website is a serious red flag. Act accordingly!

Tom
