I've been working on these new blanks for the 2020 line up of my Trout Smiths branded rods. I will be offering a limited number of E glass and S glass rods this coming season. Currently finalizing the wood inserts for the rods. As with last season all these rods will be finished and available for intimidate shipment as Trout Smiths branded rods, although I may hold a few to offer as custom builds as well.

I am working on some graphite models in 3,4 and 5wt that are medium action and feel allot like glass. I am planning on some spinning rods as well, but I am not happy with the point they are at as of today. When I finish the reel seat design on the spinning rods I will add them to the line up.

I will add updates as I draw closer.

** What is Trout Smiths? I build these rods just as I do with my Graywolf branded rods, but the idea is to not offer custom options, so there are no options as to reel seat, grip, guide wrap etc. Simply put, less time spent communicating for custom options means I can offer these rods for a lower cost and they are ready to ship the day you purchase. Still quality made, flor grade cork, Lemke seats, built and finished by me in Michigan. Of coarse I will be happy to build as a custom rod but the cost will be a bit higher

Thanks for reading, Shane

The ones I am happy with are 7ft 3wt, 8ft 4wt, 8ft 5wt in S glass all three piece, and 7ft 3wt 3pc and 8ft 5wt 4pc in E glass. I have other tapers but they are not good enough to add to the list yet.

Agree with the others. The color and unsanded texture of the E glass look fantastic.

Thanks again guys. The photo is just a quick cell phone photo after I got the blanks back from painting. Better photos soon.
ear4, for the graphite all are 4 piece 8'0" 3wt, 8'6" 4wt, and 5wt... super light in hand med to full flex with an im6 feel. I am currently working on a reel seat for these models, I want to use something small in .640 or .595 they are getting close to being ready to put together. Shane

Thanks guys. It's coming together.... a little slow but getting there. Woods are ready to be turned for the reel seats.

Oh wow! That is a cool picture. Not sure why it strikes me so. I guess I am a sucker for a great wood reel seat.
