********* Rod has acquired blank rolling/manufacturing equipment and will start rolling blanks in Montana within a couple of months. I will be heading to Washington to start rolling blanks within a week or 2 on the equipment we have purchased. What this means for my customers is the ability to have readily available inventory for orders and a significant reduced wait time.

Our Uni-S Western and ********* Glass series will be continue to be a focus of production not to mention the ability to start offering some new lengths and weights. These will also be available as blanks or kits.

We already make a series of IM6 4pc tip over models that have a true moderate action. I see a lot of the general discussion on the forum regarding slower graphite and I want to stress that making graphite that feel a lot like the old Winston IM6 or Scott G rods (only lighter) will be a cornerstone of ********* Rod going forward. We have built quite a few of these this year and the feedback has been fantastic. Right now we have 8'6", 8'9", and 9' 4 and 5wts. We will be introducing 3wts shortly and maybe a 6. These will be available in both finished rods, blanks, and kits.

I will be introducing a series of Eglass blanks available as kits or individual blanks to rod builders. These will only be available as finished rods through custom rod builders. I will announce updated pricing later but these blanks will be priced just under $200.

I plan on updating the website shortly with updated rod models, pricing, and even apparel offerings.

Thanks for all the support this forum has shown myself and ********* Rod over the years. I have gained a lot of friendships and learned a great many things from this forum since I joined here a decade ago this month. Please don't hesitate to shoot me a message with any questions.

Dusty Smith

Here's an example of my moderate action Traditional Graphite 8’6” 5wt. This series is a lot like the old Winston IM6 and Scott Gs. The website will be updated in the next couple of months with these rods.

I have Dusty's 8'9" traditional graphite 4 weight - it is an absolute pleasure. Light, responsive and wonderful with a fish on, any fish. With my Hardy Marquis LWT 5 or 6 (new version) it is wonderful. DT4 or WF4 406 lines - good with a WF5 406 also.

How did I miss this announcement?...Rolling blanks across the street from Rocky Creek has a sort of fabled ring to it; the kind of thing future generations talk and write about sentimentally and fondly...Congrats, my friend!

I stand by my decision and am really looking forward to my 4wt Western Glass once things are up and rolling. That said, I’m sure there is room in my budget for one of your 5wt graphite rods, or a flats glass rod, or.....

Seriously, congratulations on this next step in your creative journey! Creating your own blanks is pretty awesome

I have been delayed temporarily and as soon as I can go to Washington for a couple more days of working on my equipment I will get it shipped from Washington State to my facility in Montana. As soon as it is safe to travel I will be very close to rolling blanks in Montana.

I have my equipment in house and my electrician is working over the next week or 2 to get it operational. My composites and mandrels are arriving mid October and will start rolling then.
