I'm glad to hear that you will finally have all your stuff consolidated in MT. I know those trips to WA haven't been easy.
Congratulations and I'm looking forward to hosting you on the upper Delaware once we get past this pandemic

I can't wait for the new facility to be up and running. I hope I have the rod building chops to do a new ********* rod justice.

Here is a 8'6" 5wt ********* in action, a rod more capable than my ability.

Good news regarding blank colors! I have found someone to paint my glass and am thrilled with the results. I think these will go nicely with the white/clear, black, and green prepregs.

Rusty Spinner

PMD

Flats Blue (think the one on the left will be the final color)

All of my blanks/rods that I'm producing, including graphite will be unsanded for the foreseeable future. The only blanks I will be painting will be the white/clear glass. My painter buffs the unsanded blanks pre painting but doesn't really take much if any material out of the blank.

The new colors are awesome. Still really drawn to the white however. The clear wraps on white....you have got that down and the results are just beautiful!

3wt WG available in white any time soon?

For the last few years I have been mostly fishing old Winston IM6 rods. In the beginning of the year Dusty sent me an 8 foot 9 inch 4 weight traditional graphite rod to try. I lawn casted it and thought it was nice, but probably too soft for my purposes. This spring I ended up fishing my Tom Morgan favorite on some smaller streams and thought, “maybe there is a place for a softer rod for bigger waters.” So I called Dusty and had him build an 8 1/2 foot, 4 weight traditional graphite rod for me.

Yesterday I got out to fish it for the second time on my local tailwater, the Farmington.

Man oh man is that rod sweet. I was able to place size 18 olives right in the bubble lines I wanted to. When I saw some ISO’s, I had no problem casting a size 12 as far as I wanted to. Up close and longer the rod performs great. Often I have found rods that have softer tips to be gentle at short ranges have the soft tip collapse at longer ranges. Not the case with this rod at all.

Oh and it feels amazing to have a fish on the line.

I have had the experience where I cast a rod on the lawn, love it there but when I fish it, it feels just ok. Dusty’s traditional graphite felt pretty good on the lawn and fishes amazingly well.

It is not designed for fishing large stimulators in a WY hurricane. But for placing small to medium size dry flies gently on smooth water, it a an incredible tool.

Thanks Dusty!

The factory is operational! I have been focusing on the Western Glass and have a new Western Glass model that I will announce shortly. Here’s one of the first rods built on a LRC rolled blank.

Absolutely great accomplishment getting the blanks rolling in your own shop.

And really looking forward to fishing this rod!

Thanks Dusty
