Popper paradise this morning with the 79 GP. Rented a kayak for 4 hours at a local small lake. All of the fish were caught with a white black tail small popper. I had a bigger bluegill but it jumped out of my hand before taking the pic. I was able to make some 50 foot cast using the Rio Gold 5 line in very light wind. Didn’t need to be too accurate as they were hitting aggressively but when I need it to for short range cast under brush along the bank it was up for it. Very fun fishing with the Barclay indeed.

Thanks Aurelio

The kayak pics are a little less clear due to my phone was kept in a zip lock bag.

I saw a couple barely used sell for a good deal around $300 on here in March. Certainly wouldn’t hurt to put a want to buy post for it you may still be able to get one.

Chris was here for the clave and got to try a couple of his rods and the one I really liked was I think a 6'6" 2wt. Really nice small stream rod.

Why are they called “Synthesis”?

The answer is one Chris' website in the description of his Synthesis series;

"My Synthesis Series of rods is complex yet uncomplicated. These blanks are made domestically here in the US for me, to my exact specifications. A technologically advanced fusion of parabolic and progressive fly rod tapers, blending my two previous series of rods without watering down the effectiveness and feel. Making use of advanced compound tapers, seamless and functional tip over butt ferrules and traditional e-glass. Not necessarily progressive or parabolic, the best of all synthesized into a new classic.

Smooth and unhurried with quick recovery. Responsive tip, mid and butt sections. You feel the cast and the fish."

I'm fortunate enough to have 2 of his older rods in a "progressive" taper and 2 of the Synthesis series...weapons on the water, I call my General Pacticioner (7'9"-4 wt) the Jack Russell Terrier of fly rods, them terriers act bigger than they are and that rod fishes bigger (water, distance, & fish) than it is.
