Looks great, nice line up of longer glass. Would like to see em :)
Also, that logo is definetly a keeper. Really nice brand look.

Good luck and will try a blank!

Cheers
Mike

Thanks everyone! Tom, the website will be fully functional in a month or 2 when I get pictures up of the rod models and the apparel. I am very pleased with the logo as well! H&H Outfitters did it for me, I told them I wanted a Cattle Brand and they nailed it. They also did my apparel, which at the moment is t-shirts, hats, and hoodies.

Good luck with Your new company. I like that you offer longer lenghts in the 4 and 5 wts. I do A lot of wading in my rivers in the west of Norway so that is interesting to me.

For all of you waiting I have confirmation that I will be receiving inventory by the end of next week, or very early the week after. Also, I have booked plane flights to NYC and will be attending (won't have a booth) the Somerset, NJ show, which is the 29-31st of January. If anyone wants to meet up with me I will have a handful of rods to cast, most notably my 8'6" 5wt. See Rod Photos for pics of this rod.

I met up with Dusty, great guy and he has some very nice tapers. I don't think you could go wrong with any of his tapers. The 8'9 8wt and 8'6 5wt spoke my language very well!

It was great to meet Dusty - like Bob, I liked the 5 wt, but for me the 6 wt was my favorite. Both would be great all round rods.

There are some really nice rods in that collection. I had spent the entire morning casting fast graphite and just to make matters worse, right before I met up with Dusty I had been casting a Loomis NRX 6wt. That rod is fast, but I sort of liked it. Maybe I'm cresting on my 7 year graphite cycle :)

I cast 3 of his glass rods 3wt, 5wt and 6wt. As well as two graphite rods (Dusty, they graphites were both 5 wt rods, correct?)

The 863 3wt is a really neat rod. The taper on this rod is fantastic for general purpose 3wt work. I normally wouldn't consider fishing wets or nymphs with a 3wt, but this rod would handle sz 16 and under nymphs with ease. For dry fly work this rod is a dream out to 45ft. After that it is still fishable but I started to loose some of the presentation you would expect from a 3wt. It casts well in close, but the length makes really short casts like you would make with a 7 rods more of a dap.

The 866 was a nice rod, but it was harder for me to cast after coming in from a NRX 6wt. I was able to get fishable casts out to about 60 ft. After that I ended up forcing the rod.

The 865 is a rod I am looking forward to casting again when I am in a more leisurely mood. It has a bit of swing weight to it. I might have to spend some time with different lines on it, but the taper was really nice. It has some of the stickyness of the Japanese glass rods with a bit more power in the butt. I hope to have a chance to really spend some time with this rod.

------------ Graphite comments begin ----------------------------------

I cast two graphite rods. Both 9' 5wts (Dusty, correcty me if i'm wrong) . A fast and slow model. Dusty is still making some adjustments to the fast model, but it is really promising as a rod that will cast from 10ft to 70 ft). The slower of the rods is a very nice presentation dry fly rod. Capable of doing more as a 9' 5wt, but a really nice rod for relaxed casting.
------------ Graphite comments end ----------------------------------

The workmanship is very good. They are not overly decorative, but the low build wraps, hiqh quality compoents with beautiful wood reel inserts make these jump out without anyone thinking the rods are art pieces and not fishing rods.

Thanks Carl, both graphite rods were 9' 5wts. Congrats on your casting instruction certificate. It was pretty awesome casting with a bunch of guys who love glass as much as I do.

Also, my inventory has been shipped and will let everyone know when it's been received. I will make a list of blanks in stock next week.

Yes, thanks Carl for your opinions! Now I'm even more curious about your new 3wt blank, Dusty.
...can't wait to get my hands on it.

I've been waiting for my 8'6" 3 weight blank since last April or May. Glad to see the wait finally over.

I was part of the crazies casting around moving cars, and enjoyed meeting Dusty. He is a very young looking dude, but one passionate rod designer . He oozes excitement about tapers, aesthetic wraps, but very serious about providing an awesome functioning. I am fine with casting around mortals like Saltsh, and BobHa( both fine casters) but then Mcfarland shames us all. I have never casted a "heavy" line fly rod but the beautiful blue 6? Weight Rod was a cannon, love the two graphite as well. In fact they all were just great casting rods with different applications.
I am on the list for Dusty's 8'9" 5 wght blank.

Great News, My blank inventory is in! Thanks to all of you for waiting patiently. The 8'9" 4wts and 5wts have all been reserved in both blanks and rods due to pre-orders. All other models are available. I will be ordering more inventory this week so if you want one of the 8'9" 4, 5, and 8wts please let me know. Approximate deliver is mid April.

Please PM me with any questions or orders. I will be starting all pre-ordered rods this week as well.

I know this is an old thread but how's that website coming along? I'd really like to see some photos.

Are the blanks still just clear/white or brown?

The website will be getting completed shortly. I was waiting on my graphite inventory which will be here in the next couple of weeks. Will be getting professional pics done of the final product. Blanks in a lot of the models are available in brown in addition to the white/clear.

Website is being worked on, pictures are being done. I would anticipate much more going live at the end of August. There will be no web store for a bit however.

Thanks for the continued support from the members of this forum!

I have one of Dusty's ********* custom 804 glass rods through the great people at Western Rivers in SLC. Got it this summer. This rod casts with such feel. 8 ft. 4 wt. is so good on water in Utah. Backcountry lakes and nice size streams and rivers. It protects tippets. A more poetic way to put it: you are dialed into the universe when a fish answers on the other end of the line. It has astounded some of my friends who have learned the sport on broomsticks. Dusty - I haven't met you but I am a fan. The perfect compliments? Bozeman 325 SC Reel and matching Rio double taper line.
