Got my DT 3 loaded up. I'm pairing it with a 6'9" James Green NTS. I've tried 2 other lines with this rod and have been unhappy. So far I'm really liking the 406. Loads the rod well. Well done!

Thanks Headwaters - it is appreciated.

The DTs are my favorite too.

Not that this matters much, but I'd like to see the color of the lines. (I assume they're all the same.) Can someone post a photo of a few coils to see what it's like?

Has anyone tried the DT lines with vintage Fenwick FIberglass? Just got two beautiful ones, FF70 and FF75, and I'm considering the 406 lines. Any opinions or feedback is appreciated.
Thanks!

Over the past couple of weeks I have used these new lines, very impressed so far. Most of the use has been on a couple of CTS Quartz and Steffen builds. The lines load up the glass very well and they mend with ease. So far so good!

I've been wanting to try these lines but living in Canada makes it a VERY expensive line with shipping and exchange rate.
Just found this site that sells them in Canada with free shipping!

https://www.wolfcreekflies.ca/collections/406-fly-lines

Just thought someone North of the border might be interested.

Light olive is a good line color. Visible yet muted enough that the "OMG, that's gonna spook fish" crowd won't object. I'm someone who use to think line color was an issue. I now think line colors are for anglers. The fish don't really care.
I'm tempted to try a 406 for the next time I need a line.
BTW, what's the story behind naming the lines 406?

406 - Montana area code I'm guessing.

Hey Scud,

Bingo! we were trying to convey the Western heritage of the lines by using the 406 area code name. BTW it's the area code for the entire state.

The name just sings if you remember "Provo's Privy" from the the John Wayne movie "The Green Berets".

Tom - Scott passed along the hat you gave him at the CCC for me. Thank you!!! I wore it all day yesterday while fishing my 406 line. I fished an 8' Walton Powell Hexagraph and the line works really well. I had a couple of older guys stop on the trail and watch me right at dark. I was really airing it out to get a tiny BWO over some risers and one said "I wonder how he casts so far" and the other said "I wonder if it's the line or the rod." It's both...just a super combination. You've really done well with these lines.

Thanks Rich,

I've got an 8' 4wt. Hex and that was one of the test rods - great casting rod!

Glad you liked the line.

I ordered the dt4 to replace a sylk dt4 and just spooled the line for some quick lawn casting. It is thinner than the Sylk. Nice slick coating. Shoots line very well for a dt tapered line (a nice to have with a dt line). Very responsive to arial mends (a need to have) and cast accurately and gently close and far with the Epic 480 (also a need to have), I am very impressed so far and look forward to gettng it on the water in PA at the end of the week. I think a dt3 is next. Thanks Tom!

Has anyone had a chance to try out a 406 line on an Ijuin 663 or 734? I've been using a 3 and 4 weight Rio Gold on these rods, but have thought about trying out a double taper configuration, specifically a 406.

Thanks!

I have used the 406 lines on both of those rods and find they work really well. I think you'd be happy with them - they ARE different than the Gold lines but perform very well and would be significant improvement in that it allows the rod to move a bit more naturally.

Are these lines really thinner than Sylk lines?

Does it really matter? It's really good lines, got myself a dt4 with my Barclay 64p and the rod and line really worked well together. :)

Well the statement was made that these lines are smaller diameter than Sylk, so I would like to know. Perhaps the manufacturer can confirm this.
