Hi everyone,

Trying to get a handle on the most popular line colors today. If you would take a moment to choose your favorite colors or add a comment it would be appreciated. If another color not shown appeals to you please note it under comments.

Thanks,

Tom

My choice too - definitely going to one of two colors to start.

Interesting results so far - I would have picked olive to run away with it but thought white/cream would fare better. Also green and yellow was a surprise - muted colors or brighter?

We shall see.

Thanks,

Tom

I like both tan (buckskin) and muted orange. I don't like camo'd colors as it's hard to see in the air and on the water.

I prefer peach or yellow so I can track my backcast when trying to thread it between brush or trees.

I just bought four new lines and prefered the green I saved by buying green colored lines.

I have olive head and yellow running line on my trout lline, a rio gold. That's all I have for now. My preference would be high visibility colors, like bright orange, green or white. I think these colors give me the best chance to see my line in the air and water. - Neil

You left an iconic color like tan out of the poll, but had both white and cream?

I don't like bright orange or dark brown. There are many colors of lines on my reels: grey, ivory, shades of green including olive, tan, white, purple, blue, dark pink and yellow. It's all part of the fun of the sport.

the Chinese lines from Shadow Flyfishing are fun because of all the colors he offers. The lines cast okay for me. I bought a few for the heck of it and like the colors I chose.

If I had to choose a few lines to stick with I'd have Hook and Hackle, Barrio, Cortland 333 and 444, and AirCel Supreme II (good luck finding any though)

Olive/tan for no reason and peach because I like the Cortland 444.

I own and fish them all, but best like bone/ivory and yellow/orange because they let you watch the line without concentrating on it.

I chose tan and cream. Not sure if tan is the same as SA's "buckskin"? That's my standard.

Orange is OK as long as it isn't too garish.

If I were to pick one color, it would be peach. Truth is, anything with good visibility works for me. I'm not a fan of 'stealth' colors. Anecdotally, I've noticed no difference in hook-up rates among fly line colors I've tried, and I've tried a lot over the years.

My favorite colors are tan (buckskin supra) and grey. I also like olive and cream. Cream is nice for evening or low light conditions. If I had to pick one color it would be the tan.

I was surprised not to see my favorite color, peach on the list. I thought fly lines began and ended with peach. I'm also developing a liking for Sylk's mustard color. I couldn't hit Other X2; so I ended up with olive as my alternate choice.

For floating only it doesn't matter to me. I think I have a line in about any color you can get. For sinking I have always like green or brown.

For me orange/peach. I don't usually use indicators when nymphing, so watching the line is important and orange stands out well.

Hi you all mates,
I hope I have correctly understood the spirit of this topic.
Please pardon me if not ... My English is not so good as I would.

I do like orange floating fluo lines due to the fact this enhance visibility onto the water without efforts, and I can control better my cast even when the daylight is short during the evening.I have no evidence that this color creates disturbance to fish, also because the waters of the rivers where I'm fishing are never gin-clear, though very clean.

I just have a bit of difficult employing dark colors as sinking lines are made.

Uncle Ben
