can't wait!

I'm certain I need to add a good glass 9 and/or 10wt to my quiver.

Unstructured Fiberglass series continues with these new "Old Empire" red blanks... This is the first 7'6" 3wt build, with more orders in the works...

The big guns are in the works. The prototypes are 9' in length but going shorter is no problem. Shorter heavy glass is more fun to cast. However, for a wading angler an 8' or even 8'6" might be too short, depending on the fishery. For example, for striper fishing from the shore I use rods between 8'6" to 11'. I'd like to hear some feedback on the length....thanks!

That rod looks amazing. That's my favorite rod of the ones you've posted.

As far as the bigger rods, I would love a 8/9wt in 9'6". Seems like it would be a nice do everything kind of rod.

Glass Enthusiast, thanks for the comments.

Christian, thank you. Hope your enjoying the summer! I've been too busy fishing, but once the season is over I will be working on more rods. :)

Vlad,

Concerning the length for your heavy weights, one of my all time favorite striper beach rods is the 8'8" 8wt Scott HP series.

Very nice I like your style to. For wading in bigger rivers fishing for sea run browns or salmon I prefer a 7-8wt in
9-9.6" length. For heavier weights and longer rods a two handed rod is probably better.

Rich and Endre,

Thank you both for the comments and sorry for the late reply...I just got back from a trip. Scott HP were great rods and my thinking is very close to yours, Rich... 8'6" to 8'10" would be a nice length. At this point I am not planning on anything over 9' in length.

Two Unstructured Fiberglass 7'6" 3wt 4pc Fly Rods are available for immediate delivery. These are my last two builds for 2014, both in translucent dark red E-glass. The "Old Empire" taper is slightly more semi-para than progressive...makes a great summertime (or wintertime midge) spring creek rod.

Thanks for the kind words , friends. I tried to make rods look like they came from on old English library...hope I succeeded in that. :-)

My plans for 2015 are to make rods based on individual orders only. I am out of yellow 8' 4wt blanks at the moment, but will be getting some new models soon. Will keep everyone posted.

Always easy to look at your work. Very pleasing to the eye and your craftsmanship, attention to detail, and artistic sensibility are apparent in your builds.

These are no exception. They're gorgeous! Please forgive me, but I have to ask what you mean by rods from an "old English library?"

Well, I had something like this in mind... I love the feel of an old library, since it makes a perfect setting for an ultimate fishing room. The smell of leather, old paper, ink, faint tobacco and dusty tools. You sit in a comfortable leather chair with a glass of single malt in hand, next to your rods, reels (and guns), thinking about all the great fishing you have done this year. The rod should look like it belongs right there.

Thank you,

Vlad,
Well done. The refined, yet rustic style and sporting traditions you envision are realized in your rod builds. You've really captured that look and feel. Kudos!

Hi Randy,

I've got just a couple of blanks each at the moment, in dark red glass. Both are 9' 4pc, primarily geared toward demands of shore/wading anglers. The future batch will be in different color, but this all I have right now.

Price: $599, US shipping included.

Unstructured Fiberglass Fly Rod Series is at the end of its production, and you can still place an order for limited 4wt and 5wt models. This was a limited series of builds in total, with less than 30 completed rods in existence. In case you'd like to order a rod, this is my current blank availability (prices for 4 and 5wts will remain the same, $525 for finished rod):

7'6" 3wt 4pc "The Old Empire" red glass - 0
8'0" 4wt 4pc Progressive green glass - 2
8'3" 5wt 4pc Progressive + blonde glass - 1
8'6" 8/9wt 4pc "Conquistador" green glass - 0

I will be taking a hiatus from rod building and won't be offering new blanks this year.

Thanks,
Vlad

Well Vlad I am certainly happy I acquired my 8' 4wt and 8'3" 5wt. I am sure there was a lot of effort put in by you on these rods. Thanks for all the fun I will have with them they are truly astounding rods and builds.
