Hello friends,

For some time I have been working on developing my own line of fiberglass fly rods. I am pleased to announce that the first of the Barclay Glass line is ready to go!

These rods are very much in line with my personal philosophy of fly fishing. I love fly fishing because it is simple, true and beautiful. I started rod building to enhance my own enjoyment of fly fishing. I build fly rods that are simple and classic with attention to small details that bring out the true beauty of every material used. My mission is to share this love for the simplicity and beauty of fly fishing with all of you.

This first model of the Barclay Glass line is a 7'2" 3 weight 3 piece fiberglass rod made of the highest quality Uni-Directional fiberglass. I chose a deep, translucent 'brown ale' color for the Barclay Glass rods to reflect the smooth sweetness they embody. I designed these rods in conjunction with a high quality, well respected Japanese blank maker.

These rods are ... Smoothly progressive. Responsive. Stable. Sensitive. Sweet.

Featuring only the highest quality fittings ...
Snake Brand light wire Universal Guides in their new ECOating
Classic and durable Mildrum carbide stripping guides
Custom designed brass reel seat hardware made by Masatoshi Okui of KINEYA Reels
Flor Grade Portuguese cork grips and seats
The finest Japanese silk wrappings in a deep brick red
Marine grade spar finish
Milled aluminum tube with domed brass ends
Custom designed and made muslin rod sock

I am pleased to offer these at $465 (plus shipping).

I have spent countless hours 'field testing' this model. Using different lines, I have fished this rod on every type of water I can get my feet in and compared it to the finest rods I can get my hands on.

This rod will soon be available to demo through the TFM demo program.

For more information, please contact me through the forum or visit my website cbarclayflyrods.com

Chris

ps - I plan to make a casting video soon, so please stay tuned for that.

Now, that's an appealing-looking blade. Bravo on translucency and getting much closer to the appearance of honey than the blank that wears that name.

Hope you can consider making some blanks available to DIYers. There are folks who would buy a blank who would not even consider a custom-finished rod, so to that extent, it's a different, expanded market for you rather than cannibalization.

[OK. Addressed while I was composing.]

Beautiful rod Chris and congrats on the launch of the new line! Would this be e-glass or s-glass? Have you decided what other lengths and weights you're going to offer?

Excellent Chris. The brass hardware sounds really interesting and from a classic reel designer to boot. I also really like the blank color.

Very cool rod - I also like your minimalist style, and how all the elements are visually connected. Beyond aesthetics, it's great to have you jumping into rod building AND designing!

Fantastic work Chris! I knew once you established yourself as a fine builder, you would take the next natural step in the progression ... designing your own blanks! Nice color selection, and love the brass fittings!

I haven't been this excited to see an announcement in a long time. Chris's builds are fantastic and I love the new brass hardware. The new color looks great and can't wait to cast them.

Very, very nice Chris! I like the color of your blanks, it's reminiscent of Vince Cumings blanks from years ago. I wish you only success in the future and am looking forward to seeing your new offerings in Michigan next year.
Kindest regards, Mark.
