I was going to say sundrop, but that's a blue halo color.

The olive one is fine. Why? Because it says 480 on it. And because it weighs 40 grams (ERN3.66).

By the way, Kabuto lists the name of the paint used for the blanks and I found it on the website of the paint manufacturer. Anyone tried it or at least was interested/knows about it? Would it be available/ will it be easy/ it's easy to buy automotive paint for example, to order from outside japan, etc? I didn't find in any japanese online store/rakuten -like website.

Went ahead and put 7 different Epic 480's on the scale today. They are all different, which is normal. There will be different weights between the blanks due to colors, manufacturing dates, etc ... All of the 480's weighed in the range of 45.36 grams to 51.03 grams. These differences are so small that nobody is going to be able to pick one up and tell the difference.

ANR_Eric - My amber 480 came in at 48.19 grams, so your scale is right where mine is.

I have a 686 in salsa being built right now but I could get behind one in olive or flame.

Jeff,
Your popper "safety cone slayer" is going to look slick being thrown by your Salsa 686.

Favourite colours - natural and amber. I can't get my head around that reel seat though. Given that a lot of glass builds are kind of retro, it just doesn't seem to belong. Maybe I'm just getting old!

Randy,
As of now, yes they are only available in 4-6wt and no longer than 8.5ft, with the exception of the big daddy 9wt 9ft 4pc.

Thanks, I like the looks of them, but! they seem very expensive for a glass blank!

For me, I like the Natural, Amber, and Flame colors--probably in that order. I'm not a fan of the reel seat.

Anyone fished the 9wt? How is it?

I agree. That is the most hideous reel seat that I've ever seen save for the Ari Hart seats.

mcfly ... the Epic 990 is a big beast. What would you be using it for? In my hands it real worth would be for musky, tarpon, chinook, and other large fish species. It hucks very large flies with ease and handles big fish just fine.

I am hoping that they will make a short eight weight at some point that will feel like the big brother to the 686. The 990 isn't that at all. It's it's own animal.

I agree Cameron, a shorter #8 would be a great addition. Anywhere between 7'5" and 8' for me. I want a mangrove rod with the bottom end for turning fish out of structure.

We have received several emails in the last couple of weeks, asking if we had certain Epic blanks in stock. Everything on our website is up to date, so if it shows in stock on the site it is real time inventory. Thanks ...
