I have extended the Signature S-glass taper offerings. I have finalized two new tapers, and blanks are being rolled now. Due to cost of material, I am unable to make large batches of blanks. I typically can afford to do about 10 at a time. The new tapers are a 9ft 5wt 3pc, and a 10ft 7/8wt 4pc. I have noticed, and decided that the best ferrule configuration on these blanks, is a tip over butt. The only taper I have that I use a spigot is the 805-3, the mandrel, is made for a spigot type ferrule. All others seem to perform best with the tip over.

I hope to have the new tapers in stock, sometime in May. Some have been reserved already, but I will post on my blog and facebook, when blanks are in stock. Currently I have four each of the 805-3, and 905-3 not spoken for. All of the 802-3 and 1007/8-4 are sold.

The ten foot 7/8 weight is interesting. What is the target application for that blank?

It seems like it might be a good surf rod. Or a large trout/salmon rod for big water.

I think the 7/8wt with be best suited for large trout or steelhead.

Hmmm, that 10' 7/8 sounds VERY interesting. I'd be curious to see one of those built up?

Fellas, I will be working on those maybe in a few weeks. Should be a fun couple months. Let me know what you think. I have not had much time to get the info on what is available ... But soon I will produce a list. Also Cameron has the 8ft 5wt 3pc in the loan program.. Check it out. http://www.thefiberglassmanifesto.blogspot.com/2012/05/tfm-fly-rod-loan-program-list.html

Shane ... I am excited to see this series expanded.

clarkman23 ... I can't wait for those 10' 7/8 weights either.

I have a demo Signature S-Glass 805-3 and finally had a chance to give it a fish it last week. I was quite impressed.

This is easily in the top three of all the 8' five weights I've ever cast or fished. I expect that this demo will be busy over the next few months. I might get to fish it once more before sending it off.

A generous forum member recently sent me this spigot ferule version of a Graywolf S-glass 805-3 to play with and I must say it is a very nice taper. The rod does what I would like a 5wt to do. Casts long with ease and handles a haul with when you want to push it. When I really push it it doesn't tail. Tracks beautifully. And, is still sensitive enough to load with 10-15 ft of line out. Excellent dry fly taper, not a "dry fly" rod because it can't handle any else but dry flies. Perfect glass 5wt for larger trout water. Fits my casting stroke very well. I cast it with a Cortland Lazerline WF5F.

I have the 805-3 and the 802-3 and I can not say enough good things about them. These rods re the ones I find myself fishing most, I can't wait to add more rods from this series to my collection. The S-glass I would like to get next is the 8'6" 4wt listed on Shanes site.

Also, they are the only rods I have that I have had other fisherman come up to me and complement them while I'm fishing.

Shane,
Is the 8'6" sig s-glass blank going to be available in the same beautiful color that the 8' 5wt nd the 8' 2wt are in?

Thanks guys, I really love reading this. And Glass Enthusiast, yes the 8'6" 4wt is the same color as the 5wt and 2wt you have. Shane

Thanks. I have a 4wt in 8'6" 4 piece and a 4wt in 8'0" 3pc. I am almost finished with the 8'6" 4 piece and plan to bring one of each to Michiglass.
