Just a quick note ... I talked to Tom Morgan late last week and he said that the glass blanks are very close to being ready for sale. He felt that they should be shipping out blanks in the next few weeks and should have pre orders taken care of before the end of the year or early 2011. It will be exciting to see the first glass builds from these highly anticipated blanks.

swalker9513 ... I am going to have to save my pennies as well. I just sent Tom Morgan an email this morning for one of the 7 1/2 foot five weight blanks.

Hello fiberglass enthusiasts,

At long last it appears everything is falling into place for my fiberglass blanks. The project has been a lot of fun but has had many more setbacks than I ever anticipated. However, I don't give up and am glad that I don't because the results are very gratifying. I am confident others will appreciate the new designs too.

I do want to make clear it about delivery. Cameron was correct in saying I should start receiving blanks in December of 2010. However, I won't have the back ordered blanks filled in December but should in the first part of 2011.

I am updating the web site with some new information and photos which will be done in about a week.

I do want to thank everyone for their patience.

Best regards,
Tom Morgan

dry fly Tom ... I apologize for the misinformation. Taking notes and driving home in traffic didn't quite yield itself to accuracy I guess. HA ...

The Tom Morgan Rodsmiths fiberglass page has been updated. The blanks are getting really close. Stay tuned ...

sounds like they will be fantastic rods! being the cheapskate I am though, I'm probably gonna wait and see if I can score some "blems"!

wow. the website has changed quite a bit since I last looked about 1-1/2 years ago.

I think it's cool that dry fly Tom is including decals for the rods.
I wonder if most builders will use them or not?
Since there won't be many "factory rods" made, it would be a nice identifier for authenticity,
in years to come, and also bind the undoubtable variations in builds with a common mark.

And I see that the wood dowel has been "upgraded" to a graphite dowel.
A few new models have crept into the line-up during the R&D period, too.
Also, the option for bag + tube is a nice touch.

They've sure been a long time comin'!
Can't wait to hear some first-hand critiques ...

Corlay, thanks for pointing out the exta info about the decal, bag and tube); I didn't read past the update on top of Morgan's page initially.

I'm also very pleased Morgan decided to offer these options as well. Gosh, I'm pretty excited to see the unveiling of these rods now; even the bag and tube is kind of giving me goosebumps! [Count me as one of the pleading customers; glad others joined in on the request.]

I cannot wait as well I have a 8'3" 6 weight blank on order as well as a rod tube and sock, it will be a nice winter project and it will really make it hard for me to wait for fishing season to begin.

I cast the white glass prototype at Tom's place last July. And yes, it's a wonderful rod. I have one on order for me and two blanks for a local fly shop (Trout and Grouse in Northbrook, IL). But we're kind of late getting on the list. Yeah, pretty excited here ...

i'm right there with you PB (except that i won't try to build this up myself).

i've sold a few things so i'll have the money waiting for Tom's "streamer special" i ordered. i've tied up a bunch of girdle bugs like Tom told me and i'm literally chomping at the bit to use his rod and attempt the morgan twitch. realistically, with the time it takes me to get the blank and then get it built properly, i bet it'll be late summer till i get to fish it. i guess good things come to those who wait (though i'm not so good at the waiting). i'm like a goofy kid dreaming of when i finally get my hands on that proverbial red ryder BB gun ...

Oops, sorry, it was the 8'6" 7wt Unity with the Universe rod. I kind of liked it in white glass ...
The 8'3" 6wt was lovely too, but the 7wt is what I've ordered, so I spent more time with it.

I emailed Tom M. today and asked about delivery date for an order placed now. He emailed right back thanking me for my interest and said that a realistic delivery date would be March or April depending on which blank was ordered. He'll be doing them in batches for each size so some will be available before others and he needs to fill all the orders that have come in already.

I received an email from Tom Morgan yesterday, and my 8', 5wt blank is ready to ship next week.

Tom sent out a cutoff along with some handmill parts, I can see why he wanted this color, it's pretty much a dead ringer for the color of the graphite rods. My models are coming later as they are produced.
