David makes a good point. I paid nearly $200 (I think it was $185) for a replacement T&T Helix tip several years ago. I've read in numerous posts on numerous sites that Sage, Loomis and St. Croix are the most lenient about warranties and charge the least for repairs. T&T, Winston and Scott are very strict about warranties (meaning, if you aren't registered within the stated 30 days of purchase from an official dealer, you are not covered), and if not covered, they charge a lot for repair.

Scott has repaired three unwarrantied rods for me without any extra charges. In each case, I told them the rods were not registered to me, but they billed me as if the rods were warrantied in my name (there is a base shipping and handling fee). Very kind of them.
