I went to the post office this morning to pick up my 7643. It's the most beautiful rod in my entire collection. Probably one of the pretiest rods I have ever seen. I can't take my eyes off it. The Ross San Miguel #2 is a perfect match in looks and feel. I will string it up with a Classic Sylk to begin with. If not maestro Kabuto gives me another advice ...

We're all assuming, Christian, that you're gonna post some photos of your outfit. Congratulations!

that says a lot,
because you have some pretty keen stuff, Christian.

Especially, the Norie Amberstar;
which is one of the most unique and beautiful rod, bag, and tube packages
that I've ever laid eyes on.

But no argument from me. I've seen the Kabutos up close,
and now have a 703 blank waiting to build. Image

With all the blanks and builds you have in the pipeline, you may need to change your signature line to "I am haunted by actions." Image

I am thinking a Bougle would be the perfect match for this rod. Will have to wait and see. I bought a Bougle at a pretty affordable price at Farlows a few weeks ago during a work gig. Yes, our one day off of work all of my workers hit the bus tour. I go to Farlows! FYI, great exchange rate right now.

Peace,

TW

Well, the Kabuto rod made its way to TX! (7' 3wt) It is beyond beautiful. I believe Kab is already a builder in high ranks. The rod is immaculate. The black hardware and agate stripper kicks it up a few notches. The attention to detail is unlike anything I have seen. Yes, the pictures do not do the rod justice. I lawn cast the rod with a 3wt DT. Surprisingly powerful even against a little wind. I can't wait to hit the high streams and find some Cutts and Brookies. I will post a full report when I get on the water and take some pictures. Around here it will be put to work on Brim, Guadalupe bass, and Cichlids in smaller water.

Cam, pull the trigger! You will not be disappointed!

Kab, many thanks for your detailed response. Rod descriptions can be difficult to convey, but I got a good sense about your 8053 by reading the translation by Tom (thanks for your help!, Tom).

Tight lines to both of you gentlemen.

I recieved my 805/3 Kabuto rod today. Kab went into such detail I don't have much to add except it's the best looking rod I've ever seen, the workmanship is immaculate and it throws a TT5 a long way without much effort. Also, Kabuto rods を使用ã

Kab, any chance you'd be willing to sell a few blanks?

I am taking the reservation of the blank. Please inform me by December 15 if you interested.

The current delivery timing about finished rod is the late April or early May.
I'm sorry for taking long time.

I just got one of his white blanks can't wait to see it built up. With all the talk about the rods and a little short on money. I decide the best way to get his rod was a blank. I just stare at the blank, I love the see thru white. He is so ez to deal with and so nice. He had a problem with the money order I sent to him. But he sent the blank anyway. What customer service!

Thanks. It's a little out of my price range right now, but from all the research you've done to develop these blanks, I'm sure it's worth it.

Tight Lines,
Sam

can some of you KAB rod owners chime in and tell about the flex of the blank? i'd like a 7' 4wt blank, but i'm not a huge "full flex" kind of guy. i prefer a glass rod with a sensitive tip that flexes into the middle of the rod (but not into the handle). please share your experience with this sweet looking blank. thanks.

tonemike - I have had the chance and cast Kab's 703-3 and 764-3 ... they are a nice progressive (medium) action. I think there is a misconception out there that all Japanese glass rods are slow or "full flex". Kab's work is outstanding and he works hard to provide his customers a rod they can treasure.

JC - for Kineya reels ... all of the series have a model for a 4wt, so your decision may be difficult. The craftsmanship is outstanding. I fish the 301A and 301AW (wide) with additional spools to cover my 3wt-6wt needs. The "A" frame is light, my preference to keep the "horse in front of the cart" when it comes to rod / reel matching. The "B" frame is very sharp looking, heavier than the "A" frames. The 700 series is outstanding, with a stainless steel frame, ball bearings, and a 'hard rubber' material for side plates. The Cavous has a few finishes that will match Kab's rods well ... Same with the model 100 and 200 ... Masatoshi is aces to deal with, he's my good friend and a fine craftsman. Like with Kabuto's rods, there is one man behind the reels of Kineya. Having a "face" to a product is an important part of my decision to own a product, especially with products for my hobbies.

I appreciate your insight Fred, you are very well versed on the Kineya line.

I am looking at the 301A using a DT4F, perhaps a GPX or Sharkskin. I think both are about one-half a weight heavy. The preferred balance point for me is at the front of the grip. If I am reading the specs correctly, the 301A is about the same weight and size as a Hardy Featherweight.

I apologize for straying off topic.

Jerry
