Just got my Graywolf green 5'4" 4pc spinning rod to compliment my 5'4" BFS/1500C combo. I purchased a Pflueger President 20B reel for it.

Im going to love these two little gems. Perhaps Wednesday I will take them for a test drive on a trout lake in the mountains. These are going to add a new dimension of fun for me.

Great looking rods and excellent reels. Really like the reel seats Shane puts on the rods.

I'm sure the Pfleuger will work, but you really need a nice old classic spinner for that green rod..

Mitchell 308 or 408 is my favorite but the older French-made ones have big reel seats, which don't fit my (one) modern rods..

Dam Quick 1001 is a classic that has 100% of the smoothness and functionality of any modern spinner, these are a bit hard to find tho

DQ 110 is plentifully available and also excellent, bit heavy maybe

Shakespeare 2052 is similar to the DQs in build quality, need to find the earlier ones which have EE and EC serial numbers - the later ones have a plastic bushing on the spindle that tends to crack..

Shakespeare Sigma 2200 model 25 or 30 are Japan (Omori) made but very good, similar to the DQ 1001 in looks though don't have the worm gear. Relatively easy to find, light and well made.

Yep a vintage spinning reel would be cool on the rod.

Didnt make it out to water last Wed due to my fishing buddy cancelling that morning. Ill try again this coming week.

I have a mitchell 308 I could put on it but since its a modern precision made rod I went ahead with a modern reel I have had great success with. If the rod was a vintage Fenwick UL that 308 would be on it in a second.

I loaded the pflueger up with 10# 8 strand ultra thin BFS braid.
