I've mentioned before Conolon was king in the 70s for spinning rods.
Not trying to detract from your Heddon, but I picked up an UL Pal with tip-inside-butt ferrule.
Never liked the rod compared to choices at hand, and found the best use for the tip was an axle for spooling line...

This one is very pretty BD.My phone is being wonky and won't let me post pics This is a mark III with the o ring gold ferrule and pretty wraps.Comes in a sock.Still has plastic on cork etc.I will never fish as it will pay for everything else. The little St Croix xxl featherweight I am going to enjoy flinging tiny jigs with and the little Fenwick Blank build is the same type of rod.I also got a 1492 AK and the little Daiwa hardy clone.I could have spent 1000s at this sale. There were several old Lews reels in the boxes I wish I would have known this gentleman when he was alive.

That one sounds like a nice rod.
The St. Croix will shine, also.

That looks like the spinning version of the Pal Pro Weight rods.
We need a fishing report.

It's curious that many of the Conolon UL rods had reinforced (bridged) guides, or at least some of the larger guides on the rods were.
