Morrum is definitely the route I want to go but like with other abu reels...lh models are $400-500 or more.
could always go with the Morrum's
lookalike, Abu Black Max 1600 or Pro Max.. small round reels, Swedish-made solid and smooth, level wind is fixed when casting, will cast 1/8oz very happily. The only downside is no aftermarket spool, still the original spool is fairly light and small. They may take a while to find on ebay, mine was $40 plus shipping. The Pro Max is more like $60-80 which gets you a few more irrelevant ball bearings.
I have one which I tuned up during hard water season, looking forward to taking it fishing. Originally had planned to put in ceramic bearings, after washing and oiling with TSI 321 the original bearings are as good as any of the ceramics I've used.
They come with white brake shoes, get the blue ones instead for lighter lures, part # 20209.
There are
aftermarket mag brakes available for these, plan to fish a while first with the oldfashioned centrifugal brake and see.
The drag uses the same washers as 4000 to 6000 C3 and C4 so is easy to upgrade, find the Carbontex washers that correspond to Abu part # 20907 or 1116906. I haven't bothered as the stock drag is all I need for bass, walleye, occasional reservoir trout.
