A friend installed a stripping guide on an estate sale Wright McGill no 970 7' spinning rod...just got it back and have some more work to do.
It is pretty rough...guides need some fine steel wool work and the finish needs to be buffed up a bit. Will see how it goes.
Another buddy found a Garcia Conolon 2510 7 footer with a cardboard in nice shape ...but alas! It is missing the last foot or so of the tip section....some prankster put a tiptop on the section somehow so it looked somewhat normal to the untrained eye and measures out a 6 feet! Rest of rod, wraps, guides etc. in OK shape.... maybe a pier fishing or trolling rod, but probably only good for parts and not much else.
I had to laugh..chalked it up to "Win some..lose some"
