My father found this rod in the bushes by his house. Needs a deep cleansing. Wraps and hardware seem intact. Hook keeper is ripped out. Cork will need to be replaced. Excited to try this one out. Heck, who needs cork? Ha ha. But seriously, will try to keep the reel seat. Will post images of rod when “revived”. Probably will have to rewrap at some point.

Try to keep that decomposing cork away from your other rods and rod building supplies. You don't want to contaminate from bad to good. Peel off the old cork outside directly into a trash barrel, then wash what is left with bleach.

One piece rod?

Well, good thing I put it in the garage then. Thank you for those instructions. And yes, a 1 piece rod.

Might strip it down. I’ve down that with a Talisman and Cortland 2000. Either way, neat rod. Will have to try it out to see if I actually do like it prior to improvements.

"Found in bushes"?? gotta be a story here....

That looks like some of the stuff we used as kids. Duct tape will take the place of that missing cork, or electrical tape or string and some glue, bobby pins make good guides, go for it!
