Took this old fenwick beater out to dust it off (FS 55) I was really impressed with it and the whole set-up's casting ability. The rod is so sensitive I can feel the antireverse clicker on the shakespeare 2200 through the handle while retrieving. No thinking about gear ratios or retrieve rate, just plain old fun. I have 6lb nanofil on this reel and never had a hiccup.

excellent..

I have one of those 2200s basically unused, have not yet fished it. It's much better than the average Japanese-made reel from that era, like it a lot. But, too many reels too little fishing time, and I tend to default to my old Mitchell Prince..

Excellent,i love the nano fil.I tore up some pld reels and guides on vintage rods with the earlier braids.Nano fil has a slick finish and doeasn't make that whirring noise in the guides. Most of my UL rods are now glass as the no stretch line barely requires much of a hookset.
