A fishing buddy that uses spinning gear much more than I do occasionally brings me garage sale finds of a fiberglass nature. This little thing has a Tennessee or slip ring grip/seat, staggered ferrule, and is remarkably light in the hand. Unfortunately, the guides are rather corroded and the grip has seen better days. Maybe a redo if I finish up all my other projects. Right.

Looks like a great rod that shouldn’t take much to bring it back to good condition.

I finally did a simple redo of the rod, essentially replacing the guides and tip top, cleaning up the grip, and spending way to much time getting the ferrule interior useable. There was no year or model code on this and I’m still playing around with line and lure weights. I will say that between its 5 foot length and staggered ferrule a 1.5 lb or so bass will put a U-bend in the rod when it runs under the boat. It casts and fishes better than I thought it might.

I am sure you looked closely but the model info is stamped on the rings on many older wonderods.

I didn’t know that, but I have checked and there are no model #’s on the rings.

Thanks, Hersh!
