I'm building a vintage Fenwick yellow fiberglass blank, SC 682. It's a one piece blank that was originally 5'6" long, but I've extended the handle, via a stent, which will result in a 6 ft. rod. I believe the SC stands for spin-cast. I'm building this into a spinning rod.

My research does not turn up anything on this particular blank and was wondering if anyone would know the lure and line weights this rod was originally designed to handle.

Thanks

You may discover the tip slow for a spinning rod, the best glass spinning rods I own are notably faster than equivalent length fly rods by the same maker, and while spin-cast rods may have a fast mid, then tend to have a very soft tip.

You are correct sir. The tip is soft. My plan is to use braided line with a florocarbon leader for jig fishing walleye in Canada. My hope is that the braid will increase sensitivity and the soft tip will allow for a better hook set.
