Antique store find. Must of been a common reel, I see them all the time on ebay. It would be a good match for the A-209 Wonderod. It's Model EG, so from at least 1964 according to the Shakespeare date code on the wiki.
My problem is this; I took it apart and cleaned it. The spool has a plastic ring glued on top. The glue was dried out and it was loosening, so I removed it and re-glued it on. This is what it looks like:

The problem is there is only about 1/8" between the housing and the plastic ring on the spool, and the line won't cast out of it. Not only that, but when you push the button to cast, the "bail?" catches on the plastic ring. I took it off and tried flipping it around, no luck. Am I missing something? I did glue it on the same way I found it, but is an old reel and maybe its last owner glued it on wrong. If someone has the same or similar spool and could post a picture I'd appreciate it. Also let me know if you need more info or better pictures and I'll do it. I'd like to catch some Yellow Perch on it this fall.
