Anne and I are enjoying our regular Fall trip on Edisto Island.
I'm fishing "vintage modern" this time, both picked up from forum members: a tiny 4-9 Fenwick Legacy UL (rated down to 1# test) which is just a super-sensitive blast for the smaller fish, and my Fenglass SF74 E-glass when the bigger boys run through.
The fish were not large when I got started this week, but oh so pretty. Mostly drum species- black, spot, red, tons of croaker, a few small spotted trout. A baby red:
The weather is perfect for a guy who burns too easily- thunderstorms and pounding rains moving through daily, followed by brilliant skies, then more rain.
I fished the lagoon on a late rising tide a couple of nights ago and picked up a fattie in the pitch dark and drizzle. This is "touch fishing ... "
We are eating well. Scampi with local corn, tomatoes and bread
Our daughter drove down from College of Charleston to meet us at The Waterfront. I always study the four-foot-long fully-rigged wooden
Capt. Steve trawler model in the entryway, the detailing is just great.
That's the fam in the background booth
The food is basic- and outstanding- classic breading and great slaw
The bait-stealers are ginormous this year ... freaky
That guy flipped on me and I got instant stabs in the foot ... oh well
Picking up legal reds now for the freezer which is just a blast (that's 15"-25" TL here in SC ... )
Beach walk
Cameron's family usually joins us on the island but it wasn't meant to be this time ... so here's a shout out for Hadley, who caught her first pinfish last year
