Anyone fished one of these rare beasts? Are they a 3, 3+ or will handle 4 wts fine too? I have the 6 and 7 and they are extrodinary in their ability to carry line , and will definitely handle 1 or 2 line wts up no problem. Top shelf.... Thanks, Dave

I have the GTX in 5 and 7wt, and I prefer both with lines that are heavy by half a line weight. I didn’t know McFarland rolled 3wt GTX blanks, but I would guess it can handle 3.5 or 4wt lines based on my experience with the 5 and 7.

It wouldn’t hurt to call or email Mike for his advice. His contact info is on his website.

Got the 8' 6" 4WT very nice rod. Love it with the Leleand fly custom 4WT line. Dead on 20' to 40', got the backbone to go further if need be. Shane did a great job on the translucent blank. Rust and brown wraps, agate stripper. A looker.
