I need some help in determining the weight of my Dad's old Roddy Built holloe fiberglass rod.
It's 8'8" long from butt to tip;. 661" at the winding check and ~. 095" at the tip.

Is there some way of figuring this out, without casting it with various lines?

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would like to fish this for ... old memories.

Thanks.

Larry

Welcome to the Fiberglass Flyrodders 45gamer. I'm sure that there are some people here who will be able to tell you a thing or two about your Roddy. Pictures are alway helpful to nail down specifics about the rod. I will say that most early fiberglass rods were made for a heavier weight line, so a place to start would be perhaps a 7 then move up or down from there.
