How do you like that River & Stream reel?

Larry the funny thing about that reel is that is what drove this whole acquisition. I bought the reel several years ago and it has been collecting dust. Initially thought the reel was pretty nice certainly a nice presentation as far as packaging it was sold in. But it felt a bit like there was not enough frame as the spool seemed to lightly rub when winding so I set it aside. Recently I took it back out and didn't notice it. So I decided to pair it up with a rod and since I didn't own anything light enough to match it with I picked up the 1/2wt Blue Heron Superfine (which I love). So this was really my first day using the reel in actually fishing and I really enjoyed the setup; the rod, reel and line.

That is definitely the lightest reel I own and the one I recommend to anyone looking for a really light reel.

I want to try a DT, my only experience has been WF. I do like the Orvis superfine selection, having fished 2-5wts.

I got out and fished the line last evening for an hour and do like it though it has a bit of sound to it when stripping which I found unusual. Managed a kind of 2wt slam getting a golden shiner, pumpkinseed and a yellow perch.

Managed one nice bass that put a heck of a bend in the rod.

Very nice, I find that WF carries larger flies a little better and if they have a longer front taper they present well too.

My favorite is a 406 DT and second would be Cortland Sylk DT. I like that they are both smaller diameter lines.

For those interested in Barrio Small Stream fly lines, they are finally back in stock again. I just purchased a WF1.

I’ve been enjoying 2# silk vintage lines. Much better then modern 2# for me. And at times easy to find.

It would be difficult to do better than an Orvis DT...

I’ve got the Cabelas re-branded SA trout on my #2, no problems so far. Hard for me to compare though, since I haven’t cast anything else.
