It's not clear to me whether you're asking about Buttersticks in the 2 to 8 weight range, or about an 8 weight in the new version of the Butterstick.

Seemed pretty clear to me.

I've never cast one, every single person I know who has, really likes it.

I have the 5'9" 1 wt. Its quite fishable with a heavy 2wt floater.

I was wondering if anyone had tried their new 6wt. Does it sound like Redington's t-glass is generally faster / lighter than e-glass, or the other way around ?

I did some research when the first generation of the Butterstick came out, and it seems like T-glass is simply a proprietary form of S-glass. They should be very similar if not basically the same.

I assume that holds true for the new generation.

I can't speak to the 8wt, but I did cast the 5wt Butterstick in store the other day and when casting it next to a Fenwick Fenglass, the Fenglass was FAR superior. I was really not impressed with the Butterstick and was honestly bummed that I didn't like it. Every weight has a different taper, so definitely don't let my impression of the 5wt ruin the 8wt for you, but it is worth considering.

To each his own, I guess. I feel exactly the opposite. I love the 5 weight Butterstick.

Thanks for all the info. I decided to just buy the 6wt and see. I took it out to the casting pools and gave it a try with a few different lines.

Hardware looks pretty decent: two stripping guides, snake guides, fighting butt, alignment dots. Made in China. I like the color overall, though the disco era styling near the reel seat makes me laugh. The shape of the grip may or may not be your cup of tea.

I didn't think it was as fast as my Fenglass 6wt, and felt like it required a slower stroke. It did OK with a half weight heavy WF6F Cabela's prestige premier (what I usually use on the fenglass), but I thought it was a bit better with an Airflo WF6F super dri elite trout, which I think is a bit longer head but more true to weight. I have a WF6F Cortland 444 peach somewhere that I ought to try it with, too. I felt like it roll cast pretty well.

That is just my impression after an half hour. I think I'll see if I can catch some fish on this thing sometime :)

Got out with the 6wt for a few more casting pool sessions. The 444 WF6F worked well, seemed a bit more delicate. I also tried it with an Airflo bass WF6F line (the older orange / yellow) and that worked really well.
