CTS made blanks for Epic. They make a great blank and my 805 is smoother and softer than the Epic.

I’ve been looking at the 5 weight CTS for future build later this year. Have you cast any decent size streamers with your CTS, Scud?

If you don't want a blank as fast as the 580, I would check with ********* Rod Company. Dusty has an 8' 5-weight from his new glass series that I cast at the Montana Clave. It is really, really sweet.

So sweet, in fact, that I now have one of his on the way.

Supposedly around 2016, Swift sold just over 700 blanks. After my own research, CTS put out a press release in mid ‘17 stating they aren’t rolling for Swift anymore. They are produced in South Korea - as stated on their site.

My friend received a kit and from reading the labeling and not being aware they moved production to Asia, I bought several blanks because I expected great quality control. I know they began selling in a few fly shops and do believe they are shooting for a possible mass production, if not already - and with mass production (as we all know) quality drops.

Just as TFO (and I’ve had two) has great rods made in South Korea, I do believe Swift is having great rods produced there too.

Panfish. Yes. I fish the CTS with weighted streamers. It does fine but IF I go out planning on fishing weighted streamers in heavy water I'll opt to use my Kenney 835 a 6wt or even a 7wt.

I had a previous post on this thread about my 580 being 1.75” too long. This was after receiving the blanks (not blemish sale blanks) and looking them over with each blank being the same length.

Well, the 476 kit I built measured just fine. Ordered the 686 (blemish sale) - and is over 1/2” too short. Which is fine because I added a fighting butt. I did read back over the instructions that came with the 476 and noted if a fighting butt was to be added, you may need to trim the blank.

AND just as the 580 blanks were the same length, the 686 measured the same length.

So, double check those Epic blanks. The one positive about the 686 build is that I will only have ferrule wraps on the 3rd blank. Guides for the top 2 sections are right at the ferrules. Thus, a streamlined look on a rod with a minimalistic build and transparent wraps.

Blank/dimensions are nominal, that's all. If an exact dimension is wanted, it's a good idea to measure/trim any blank
