Gads, I looked earlier and couldn't see it (thank goodness) now THERE IT IS.

Trying to figure how I will----WOULD I MEANT WOULD--deal with an eight foot, one piece rod??

Somebody talk me out of this fast....

I have the Prime 7'3" 5wt and it fits in my '98 Corolla just fine in the front seat, with room to spare. I have no doubt the 8' would fit.

Guys, I'm in love with the Prime rods! I purchased the 3 weight and cannot find any flaws. Great color, translucent, nice cork. Can't wait for warmer weather in Ohio for bluegills. The one piece is not a turnoff. Kinda cool, actually.

I fight sometimes with a 2pc 9ft rod. I am thrilled with my 3pc, 7'6" CGR. I just can't imagine I will be happy with an 8ft, one piece rod. Must resist................

Home Depot sells PVC pipes in 12 foot lengths. They'll even cut it down to size for you for no charge. Before you get your rod, go buy a pipe and some end caps and make a tube. And if you need to - buy a van or a truck or a roof rack. If you build it, they will come :lol

The sale price was a heck of a deal.
Looking forward to the 8 wt. showing up in March or whenever they're in stock/sent out.
I plan to use mine in the southern California harbors and bays. It should be a blast!

I resisted as well. I wanted to pull the trigger so bad. But now I'm glad I didn't...

I resisted as well. It's not like it's the last time they'll go on sale. Don't even need to use a 7wt until April/May anyways. So no hurry to add it to the collection.

I'm sure the 8wt is gonna be a stupid amount of fun. But I'm trying to see how many different types of fishing I can use my Epic 686 in this year...

I need an 8 weight like I need another hole in my head - but in fishing "need" and "want" have a rather ambiguous, blurry line dividing the two. I've already been thinking for a couple days now about how I could employ such a device, while simultaneously wondering why they haven't announced a 7'9" or 8' #6 rod yet - it seems like not having a 6 in this series is a big oversight as a LOT of guys still prefer to fish a 6 for trout and bass, and some guys even like them for panfish. A classic action fiberglass 6 is a pretty limber rod and more fun to fish with than most graphite 6's to boot.

I still "need" one of those 3 weights too... and I still "need" a heavier two hander should I decide to go get serious about chasing the steelhead that don't exist out here. I still need to build out rods on the blanks I have sitting on the shelf too, and I need to get my ultralight spey rod fixed. My wallet is doomed.

Sometime this year I need to go fishing too - it may be hard choosing which rod to take already, and here they are with another tempting offer.

These rods are soft. I'm betting this will throw a six weight just fine. A slow eight is probably a fast six, although thinking of these rods as fast in any way is tough to do.

I have cast a 4 and 5wt prime, and if the 8 is anywhere close to as slow as them they are going to be a great amount of fun. I will probably try throwing a 7wt textured GPX on it first and see out it likes that, and then see where to go from there.

Here are caps I use on PVC tubes used for my Primes. The slip on caps gave me trouble getting off and I found that cutting a few slots made them still hold securely, but not hard to get off like unslotted caps can be.

Price is $79.99 right now. I couldn't pass it up and bought the 6' 3wt for my bushy creeks. Maybe the not so bushy creeks too.

For those who have this rod. Is it a true 3wt? I have a Rio LT 3wt line that isn't doing anything.

I had the 8 and the 5. The 8 was just too slow for me so I returned it. I wish the 5 had a little more butt to it. Aesthetically they are great and I like the grips.

Had the 8 and sent it back. Way to soft. I thought closer to a six at and slow with that.

I bought the 8 and sent it back as well. At best it's a soft 7, but honestly really feels more like a longer, very slightly, and I mean VERY slightly, stronger 5 weight. It might make a good small streamer or carp fly rod, but it does not by any stretch of the imagination throw flies you think an 8wt should.

I had such a great experience with my CGR 5-6 today on a local river. Made me realize that as much as the Prime 5wt appeals to me I would not be using it anymore. So I took it back to the Garner store to exchange it for the last CGR 7' 5WT they had in stock...and it was GONE!!! I wonder if one of you guys got it? Ha ha.

Why did you take the Prime back if it was a good rod?
