Mainly trout... I'm in the driftless and I have a old Herter's 6' 5wt which is a fun rod... So I was thinking a 6' 3wt would be a blast... Especially since currently I don't own anything under a 5wt atm.

If you're already content with the 6' Rod, I'd absolutely jump on it. I'm not a huge fan of sub 7' rods, which is the only reason I didn't get the 3wt.

A good friend of mine has the 7' 4wt and he loves it. I've fished it for a few minutes and it's a great rod for general trout fishing. We both have paired ours with the new battenkill reels.

Darn--what choice did I have, ordered 6/4 to complete the Prime collection.

I feel this isn't giving into my OCD--just common sense. Right?

They also have a deal if total is $100 they give free shipping and take $15 off the total.

I bought the 5 wt. today. I had been watching the Prime rods for awhile, waiting for them to go on sale.

Cabela's does not ship to Croatia. :(

Guys, is there any other source from which I can get these rods?

I've cast the 5wt and it was a very nice rod. At the sale price it a bargain. Especially if you get free shipping. It's a one piece rod, so be prepared for that.

My Prime 5 wt. was delivered today. It was shipped in a cardboard tube of comical proportions. :D
So, far I've only been able to give the rod a few wiggle tests. I cannot wait to get some fish on this rod.
It balanced perfectly with my 'ol Crown II reel and looks to be a really good bargain for $79.99, including shipping.

My 3wt came in the other day... Elwha you're right... Even my 6' tube looks ridiculous...

Lawn cast it... This thing will be a blast... Definitely not bombing casts with it... But will be great for those tiny driftless streams

I have the 5wt and it's awesome for hoppers! I'm no pro caster but I can bomb this one out pretty far with a 6wt line. I've caught trout, bluegill and smallmouth on it and even the small ones are a blast. I like it more than the CGR.

Cables does ship in gigantic boxes but because these rods are one piece and the extra length, the shipping containers are huge. I have to say that Cabelas does a superb job of packaging (better than Amazon) for rods.

Do you guys know if the decorative gold reel seat checks where the reel seat meets the cork are plastic or metal? Just wondering.

Love, love, love my Prime 5 weight. I picked up the longer 4 weight just a few days ago. Super anxious to get out and fish it. I need the 3 weight now to round out my collection.

Don't know what you guys are using for tubes with these rods but I've started using the 1 1/2" PVC. I like the grey tubes found in the electrical departments of Lowes or Home Depot.

At first I was just using the slip on end caps, but after a couple times having trouble getting them off I think I found a better solution. Oatley makes a cap for pressure testing these tubes that works great. It just slides into tube and is tightened with a wing nut that causes a rubber ring to expand and tighten the plug. Think they cost me about $3.50, but well worth it.

I picked up a 2" PVC tube and use two of the slip over end caps. Stores both rods in one tube - less space to take up. Wouldn't mind finding a factory, nylon covered tube with a carry strap, but never seen one long enough.

These caps work great. I've been using them for the tops on my PVC tubes. I also use them on other rod tubes that were missing their caps. They will even work on internally threaded tubes.

Any link or picture of these "oatley" caps you speak of?

Just Google: Oatey Gripper Plug

All the ones I have are the red plastic and are found in plumbing departments of Lowes and Home Depot.

Sorry, it's Oatey--Not Oatley

Was in the front yard with the 5wt prime this afternoon and my soon to be 2 year old daughter came over and wanted to see what was going on. Naturally I couldn't resist the opportunity. Start them young, right?

The Lowe's web page has a photo of a 4" Oatey's Pressure Release Cap. I've purchased several from Lowe's. The Home Depot's in my area don't have them.

I bought a prime a couple weeks ago and have been thoroughly enjoying just lawn casting the thing. Haven't even made it out to the water with all this rain, but it sure is a joy a cast. What lines do y'all like on yours? I have a mystery 6wt line that makes the rod really come alive. My best guess is that its a cortland line, but not entirely sure.
