Very old thread but I am planning on displaying some rods in my man-cave. I was told that storing rods the way eagleman does is bad for the rod and can cause an unwanted "memory" or warping in the blank. I was planning on three points of contact to avoid any sagging in the tip or middle. Is this something I should worry about?

I would worry more that eagleman's rods are jointed together indoors. That makes it far easier to poke one into a wall or ceiling. Also, some ferrules get far harder to separate the longer they are together.

If you store your rods unjointed with 2/3 points of contact you will probably be OK. Leaning uncased rods up against a wall is likely the worst practice.

I dont have much space right now so I found a wooden wine rack at the thrift store that I repurposed. Ive got it sitting on the top of my book shelf. It actually works pretty nicely for having a lot of rods and can still look at them or access without too much effort. It works for now until I decide to grapple with building something better.
