Hi guys,

Can anyone suggest to me if the elaborate, multi line designations on some of the 2 digit Fenwicks had any significance other than as stated? Certain years or just certain models, or what? They surely weren't a blank variation were they?
These are on an FF79, and my experience has been they call out "6 weight", right?

Thanks for all the input, Charlie

Those are the “D” Fenwicks with the treatise on line weights printed on the side. They aren’t a special variant of any blank, just wordy.

Thanks Lunker75!

That's meaning "D" serial years '63-'64 of course, correct? I don't think I ever had a D before this one, and I really anticipated it being more of a 5 weight too.

Keep up the good sharing....

You’re welcome! A 5 weight on that rod might be really nice. See what you think.

I've got the same d-series ff79 with all the line designations. I'd guess Fenwick was just trying to point out that you can fish rods with a variety of lines both up and down from the listed weight.
Mine's perfect with a Rio Gold 5 (5.5) weight.
