Hi all,

Every now and again I pick up a rod because I have never seen the model before. Here is a Scott F 803/5 I just recover from Japan. I can’t find any other info on this model. I will try and contact Larry Kenney about the rod. It’s a lovely longer #3 - perfect trout rod. It came in the original Scott rod bag and tube. Anyway, if anyone else has ever had this model please chime in - was it a Japan only release, is it a one off? All sections are marked number 524. end cap is a Scott marked one. Thanks again, Mike

Great find there, Mike!

Let us know what you find out from Larry Kenney. I wonder if it's anything like his 8'1" 3wt 3pc glass rod (that is one sweet rod), but in a 5pc.

That is a sweet rod! I have the F803/3 version, and it is awesome! It is also a maroon colored blank, and made for the Japanese market. I have never seen a 5-piece version before. Nice find!

Thanks guys,

Larry mentioned it was not a rod he dealt with and maybe it could be a limited edition Japan edition they ran sometimes after he left. The mystery continues…..

It is a very nice casting rod - chaoticscott if you get a chance could you post some pics of your rod so I can compare the wraps, grip etc..

Now I’m annoyed with myself for selling the 7’3” #3 Sansui Edition yellow glass rod I picked up once as I could have two very rare Scott weights…. Oh, and the yellow Japan Special 6’9” #3 F…. What was I thinking!!

I couldn't find any pics on my phone of my F803/3, but here is a link to a blog post I wrote a few years ago that has a couple of pics:

I also have a maroon F794/4 that was made for the Japanese market. Both are super sweet rods!

These rods for the Japanese market are from the early 2000's I think?
I'll ask my friend Masa who is the distributor of Scott in Japan when these rods were sold.

Update:
Hi Jay, It was 2004 Sansui’s 100year anniversary Rod.
The other one is Scott 40th anniversary Rod 10 years ago.

Thanks again for the info - that’s great.

Cheers
